Bedroom pop legend Still Woozy embraces all the feels on his sophomore album, Loveseat.
About The Album:
Still Woozy’s new album Loveseat whisks listeners away to a dreamy low-fi soundscape similar to that of his debut album, If This Isn’t Nice, I Don’t Know What Is, and previous EP, Lately. While Portland-based Sven Gamsky has cultivated a reputation for releasing irresistibly cool, groovy music as Still Woozy, he’s always looking for ways to grow as an artist. On Loveseat, this effort led to a collection of 13 songs that feel more personal and vulnerable than ever before.
While much of his previous work often came out of focusing on the vibe of the music, Still Woozy’s new album dives deeper into storytelling - inspired especially by loved ones like his father, partner and newly welcomed child. While not necessarily intentional, the message intertwined throughout Loveseat's tracks is one of embracing vulnerability, rather than bottling up your feelings. Whether joyful and fun (“Shotput,” “All Your Life”) or soft and melancholic, (“Big Fish,” “Rid Of Me”), there is a song for embracing it all on this must-listen album.
Q&A with Still Woozy:
Q: "You’ve mentioned that every song on Loveseat is about someone you love, while your debut album focused on themes of longing and loss. Now that you’ve explored these two
different sides, did one album feel more nerve-racking to release than the other?"
A: "I think maybe this one, just because I feel like there's different kinds of songs than I’ve put out in the past...I wanna make music that I like and that I’m proud of, so I can't let that dictate it, but there's always a little force in my head that’s like, ‘I wonder how people will actually like this,' cause left to my own devices, I can make some pretty weird, crazy music - I have like country songs and all of these other experimental songs that I don't know if I'll ever even put him out. Maybe, my hope is that, by introducing enough variety in the albums that I put out, people won't be surprised if I put out a curveball or some weird songs. I don’t know if it works out like that, but that's kind of my hope, for sure."
